Title: Rear Spring
Post by thebigdad on May 13th, 2015 at 6:09am
I have a 69 BB, the rear suspension is sagging a little. I plan to replace the rear spring. Has anyone had experience with the (TRW) composite rear springs? Any recommendations for rear springs. Thanks

I have composite springs on the 68 & 73 frt & rear. I would call VBP & ask them which spring would work best on your 69. They will want to know different things about your car to match the best spring to it (BB or SB & hp determine the weight factor). You might have to order longer bolts like 8" to get the back down.  It takes awhile for the composite spring to settle, but it sure worth it.  Also a rear sway bar will really help with the handling if you don't have one. The smaller dia. sway bar is best unless you are racing.

Here's an older thread that still applies

http://www.vbandp.com/

One of the best corvette parts suppliers & many of us know first hand they back up what they sell.

Alan supplied the thread that will explain all that three threads above.  ;)

Lots of info in that thread.

I have read numerous threads where TRW springs raise the rear ride height and 10" bolts were required to bring it down to where it should be. This is caused by the spring being a little longer than the VBandP.  Although I can not personally vouch for this I can vouch for VBandP products and customer service.

I suggest NEVER using 10" bolts as that will put the end of the bolt below your rim which would be very dangerous if you have a flat. I kept mine at 8".
