Title: 1977 Corvette Front suspension
Post by resj on Apr 5th, 2016 at 4:35pm
I am in the process of replacing the ball joints, tie rods, A-frame bushings etc from the front suspension kit that I recently purchased. To replace the lower A-frame bushings I've been told that I will need a spring compressor to take the tension out so as to remove the lower A-Frame, is that correct? Without a press what would be an alternative way to get the new bushings in place?

If your engine is still in the car, you can use the weight of the car.If the engine is out you will need the compressor..........jack

What Jack said!
However please do use extreme caution! You do not want those springs popping out at you!

Old school if you are worried about it being a launched spring....put a chain through the spring & secure it to the frame. Then the worst it can do is scare the crap out of you if it get loose
