Title: upper control arm stud nuts
Post by teamo1 on Sep 18th, 2018 at 6:28am
I have a 1975 corvette. I've completed rebuilding the rear suspension and now it's on to putting the front suspension back together. What I took off for fasteners seems to be mismatched/incorrect. I have two nuts one one side that are lock nuts and the other two on the other side were flanged type nuts with a locking serrated type of head. From searching it appears that the lock nuts are the correct type to use. I searched several hardware stores and they only carry the plain lock nuts in grade 5. I am looking for grade 8 but they only have the nylon type lock nuts in that grade. Is the grade 5 strong enough? Did the car have grade 8 from the factory? All of the searches that I have done for them online do not specify if they are grade 8.

Sounds like the balljoints were changed out before. They were originally riveted in. I know you will find what you are looking for at www.Mcmaster-Carr   ..jack
