Title: I got to drive this!!
Post by 69Shark on Oct 19th, 2021 at 10:38am

Saturday I went to a local cruise in. Weather was a bit questionable so I did not expect many cars. Only 4 including me showed. The owner  of this not only took me for a ride but also let me drive it!

She's a 1967 427 L88 engine stick convertible.

Quite a thrill since I had already assumed I'd not likely ever drive a C2 let alone a 67 427! Very impressive power!

What a great hobby!
Scott

I know how that feels 8-)  When I purchased my 68 it had a 427 with iron heads & rect openings. The car was an L79 when new , but  now had 12.5 compression & ran on 104 octane.  It was set up as a race car &  really didn't wake up  until around 3500rpm & with solid lifter would go to 7K easy.  It was fun to drive but dangerous on the road. The engine was pretty beat so after a few months finally through a rod. I sold the heads & purchased a new 454HO gen6. That was a car that had at least 650HP+ ...I think the frt tires came off the ground & I'm kinda glad it blew up because I would probably  have killed myself.

I'm way late here! The black/red or red/black 67 is my all time favorite next to Alans Blue Monster! Yep, I got to ride in Alan's Blue Monster more than once. In fact even got to feel it's power when Alan floored it and the driveshaft broke... felt like a bomb went off. LOL

Scott, my 68 Corvette BB had both tops and the rare wheels just like that 67.
