I did some research on line and found a couple of them. My questions are they truly a bolt in system? Whats the difference between steeriods and the system VBP sells? Herndon, Virginia Gender: Posts: 1255   I had the steeroids system  Yes it really is a bolt on system, after you remove the old hardware.  Everything needed was provided.  I really liked it, but it wouldnt fit around my 1 7/8" headers / sidepipes.   1977 Burgundy Corvette.  In the middle of a restoration. Currently, 3.36 gears, VBandP composite monoleafs, KYB shocks, built thm400 trans, 383 stroker engine, custom  headers, bumble bee paint scheme on the suspension. Currently working on new body. Takes some getting used too as it's very quick. I went to a 3-1 system vs the 2.5-1 and replaced the ujoint linkage from the steering column to the rack on the 73.  You will have to play with the linkage to get it right sometime, but other than that it's a easy install. You can also go with manual steering. I'll hit 25 years in June and have been married over half my life. I had good luck rebuilding my stock steering and once I bought new lines, I haven't seen a drip knock on wood. It would be nicer if the steering were a bit more stable so good move on the upgrade. The rack & pinion is another thing. Pay very close attention on how you set it up. Be very precise & get it aligned by a good alignment shop after the install. The specs are different for R&P. I also saftey wired the bolts on the rack as they tend to work loose & these company's have not addressed the problem correctly. I used to never use gloves but started using 6 mil gloves from harbor freight. they are thin enough you can still pick up small parts and are thick enough to last all day.
