After messing with the power steering again this spring, I have decided to proceed with a rack and pinion set up. I did some research on line and found a couple of them.
My questions are they truly a bolt in system?
Whats the difference between steeriods and the system VBP sells?

I had the steeroids system  Yes it really is a bolt on system, after you remove the old hardware.  Everything needed was provided.  I really liked it, but it wouldnt fit around my 1 7/8" headers / sidepipes.

Thanks, read some other comments on different sites that claimed the brackets would flex and the oil pan would get in the way, not sure if they were running an after market pan. I am just getting tired of dealing with the leaks from the original system, replaced all the parts about two or three years ago and I'm starting to see leaking out of the cylinder, again.

The Steeroids from Speed Direct are very good & work well. Takes some getting used too as it's very quick. I went to a 3-1 system vs the 2.5-1 and replaced the ujoint linkage from the steering column to the rack on the 73.  You will have to play with the linkage to get it right sometime, but other than that it's a easy install. You can also go with manual steering. I have this on my 68 & I actually enjoy driving this car over the power steering cars ..you get a much better feel for the road.  On the 67 Dodge I took off the power steering & went to manual & it handles much better Smiley

Tell me about it. I'll hit 25 years in June and have been married over half my life. I had good luck rebuilding my stock steering and once I bought new lines, I haven't seen a drip knock on wood. It would be nicer if the steering were a bit more stable so good move on the upgrade.

Well new bushings and ball joints arrived today and the Rack & Pinion should be here in a couple of days. Any advice before I begin this weekend?

The bushings & ball joints are pretty standard remove & replace. The rack & pinion is another thing. Pay very close attention on how you set it up. Be very precise & get it aligned by a good alignment shop after the install. The specs are different for R&P. I also saftey wired the bolts on the rack as they tend to work loose & these company's have not addressed the problem correctly. Good luck & keep us posed on your progress Smiley

If you have any engine degreaser, I'd spray the bottom of the car in that area real good and blast it off so it's nice and clean. just makes it lits easier if you aren't covered and grime. I used to never use gloves but started using 6 mil gloves from harbor freight. they are thin enough you can still pick up small parts and are thick enough to last all day. I got 50 pairs for 8 bucks and use them for everything,
