I converted my car trailer over to disc breaks last yr and tested everything on the trailer & it all tested fine. But when I hooked it up to the Avalanche the breaks would not work. Well it was getting late in the yr so I figured I'd wait until spring to figure this out. As it turns out the Avalanche has a factory installed trailer break controller.  This will not see a electric over hydraulic unit ( not enough  resistance) So I found that you have to put a few electric break  magnets  in parallel or purchase a kit. After market break controllers work either way.  Another GM F*** UP. Plus since 2003 GM has hidden the 12+ feed to the trailer connector so you have to dig in a harness to find.

Here's a picture of the long tilt trailer...need the length (22' Bed) to get the 68 on & not take out the frt spoiler
