When I purchased my 68 many yrs ago the steering was very sloppy. I took all the steering components out including the column. It was easy to see that everything was stock & worn out (this was in 2002)  ...34 years.  I believe my car was used in racing at one time. I looked over the column & decided to go to a flaming river SS tilt column. I had to fab a bracket to hold the new column in place. Everything else was replaced with new components. To this day it still feels like a new car. Oh ya it's a manual steering car.

Thanks Alan!
