Thought I'd post this for some of the new guys or anyone that hasn't though of this.

The damage caused by a loose half shaft is enough to destroy the car & maybe kill someone. I know first hand as it happened to me in the 68..lucky me I had them installed.

damaged protector & bad half shaft
...

It took out the shock like it was

...

It just grazed the battery compartment because the loop protector kept it contained
...

It took out those bolts
...

I have sense replaced the half shafts & ujoints  to the best I could find & I do not floor the  car in 2nd gear anymore Lips Sealed  This is almost A  MUST DO on these old cars.. I will be installing a set on the 77..funny how things get forgotten...I'll make this a sticky too.

If something breaks & you have them you will thank God you made the right decision. Jack was with me when this happened & it felt like a bomb went off.  If your car hooks & you get on it it will happen to these cars. Anything over 500-600 hp & you almost have to go with a straight axle...not worth the headache in my opinion.
