Hello Forum members. I plan to rebuild my clutch this spring. I would like to order the parts that I need ahead of doing the work. But I don't know for sure what I should purchase without taking my clutch apart to determine clutch plate size, number of splines, etc. My clutch is all original. Can anyone assist me with identifying the parts that I will need for a clutch in a stock '79 model? Recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I'll let Alan help you with that, he knows all about clutches as several others here. Me, I just follow their instructions and it has never failed me the 18 years I've been here.

I would go with a Centerforce or a McLeod clutch.  They are good clutches & they work great.

Thanks for the responses so far.. Jack, I did visit RockAuto.com and found the information that I already have. Three clutch kit sizes are available. One plate size is 11" x 1-1/8" x 10T. One plate size is 11" x 1-1/8" x 26T. And the third size is 10.4" x 1-1/8" x 10T. I have no idea which kit size to purchase without taking my clutch apart. I would like to go with better than OEM performance.
