In DE a trailer over 4000lbs has to be inspected every 2 years. Mine is due by the end of the month & it's a 7K trailer.
So after going over it I noticed the licence plate light doesn't work ( it was led). So I purchased another led light & hooked it up simple Sad. It did not work checked the voltage & it read 7.2V hooked up & 12V disconnected. The wire running to the light is a 16G -18G wire & all the other wires on the trailer are 14G or bigger. So I cut the wire & reran new wire from a side light 14G...fixed. Best I can figure out is they spliced in a wire to the harness & it is makeing a lousy contact at the joint. Probably never soldered it. So a simple 15 minute fix turned into a 2 hr on your back PIA.

OH man!
I do not envy you!

With all the boats and boat trailers I've had, only one worked when I bought it!
I actually made temporary lights from orange extension cord and magnetic lights!

They worked very well and I just kept them in my PU at all times! LOL! you know, in case I stumble it that one boat!
