Alan,

I ran AVG Free for years and liked it, then a year or two ago you switched to Avast and I've been running it since. I'm getting a little tired of pop-ups coming up every morning when I boot up saying things such upgrade ads or saying I need to upgrade to speed up the computer etc. AVG didn't do that all the time.

So, is AVG Free still good or is there another one to try.

I use Avast free, but you're still gonna get the occasional pop up...it's computers...they want more & more control.

What I didn't like about AVAST is they put a program on I didn't give them permission for. (see attached pics) Then when I tried to turn them off, they would come back when I rebooted. I went into settings/extensions to remove it. Will see if that works. If not. I will delete AVAST and go back to AVG Free.

You have to be careful where you go to install avast & if you are getting this remove it & take it out of the registry too. I'll post the correct site tomorrow.

It appears to be gone now that I removed it via settings/extensions. However, I'm still leary of it. To remove it from the registry via regedit (registry editor) manually deleting anything that says Avast or do I use a particular program.
