I have a 1974 convertible with a/c and I want to upgrade my blower fan to the C4's as has been discussed in previous posts.  My question is this; to get the blower motor and squirrel cage out, it appears I need to remove the radiator overflow tank.  And to do so, it looks like I may have to remove the a/c compressor.  Is that correct, or am I making this harder on myself than it needs to be?  I am also interested in comments from anyone who has done this project and how much airflow improvement resulted...

Thanks in advance for all your help!

It's a tight fit to get the blower out of a C-3, in both my 68 & 73 I cut them in half with a saws all ...threw them in the trash & installed after market that works great. So I guess I'm not much help. I have read that once you do the switch it does blow more air.

I believe you can leave the A/C compressor hooked up just remove the brackets and lay it on the valve cover to give you enough room
