If you want to remove the door handle and door lock (and window chrome trim) for a clean door to paint, you must first remove the window.  Unfortunately the forum will not allow me to load the file that describes this procedure clearly and completely, so if you want to see it (in DOCX format) please contact me.  It can be done by one person and will take about an hour once you understand the process.  Note- I was unable to find a satisfactory procedure for this so I made my own and it works GREAT!
