I have done numerous tricks and had minimal luck getting my 25th anniversary rims to looks polished. Am I missing something or is there an chance my rims are not supposed to have that mirror finish I see on other cars?

the factory Aluminum wheels from 1976-1979 had a coating to make them appear dull, exception was the Pace car, in 1980-1982, the wheels had a more chrome appearance. so, no, your not going crazy, they were manufactured that way by Kesley-Hayes, you can get some shine with a good aluminum polish.
